Magic Earth
Navigate with full privacy. Magic Earth gives you turn-by-turn directions, offline maps, and public transit routes without tracking your location or showing ads.

Magic Earth is a navigation app built by Magic Lane, an EU company with offices in Amsterdam and Brasov, Romania. It runs on OpenStreetMap data and covers 233 countries and regions. You get turn-by-turn voice navigation, public transit directions, and speed camera warnings. Your location data stays on your device.
The app started as a fully free product in 2015 and built a loyal following among privacy-conscious users. In late 2025, Magic Earth switched to a freemium model. Basic navigation and public transit routing remain free. Premium features like traffic-aware routing, offline map downloads, and activity recording cost $19.99 per year (currently discounted to $8 per year for new subscribers).
Magic Earth also includes a built-in dashcam mode that records your drive using your phone camera, and a head-up display that projects directions onto your windshield at night. It supports CarPlay and Android Auto, and comes pre-installed on Huawei and Honor devices as their default navigation app.
Worth knowing
Magic Earth relies on OpenStreetMap, which means map quality varies by region. In well-mapped European cities, it works great. In less-covered areas, you might find outdated points of interest or missing businesses. The late 2025 pricing change frustrated some long-time users, and the redesigned interface had some early bugs. The team has been patching issues, but if you depend on offline maps for remote travel, test the premium trial first to make sure your area is well covered.
